Dignity and Respect Advisors wanted

University staff are invited to apply to become a Dignity and Respect Advisor (DRA).

 DRAs are voluntary roles taken on by existing staff, as part of the University’s commitment to promoting dignity and respect.

They offer impartial and confidential guidance and support to colleagues who feel that they have been subject to, or have been accused of, bullying, harassment or discrimination.

A DRAs role is to listen to employee concerns and offer information about the relevant procedures and sources of support.

Role description 

The DRA role is voluntary and will be taken on in addition to usual duties and is not expected to require more than a few hours of contact time per year.

The posts will be for two years in the first instance, with the potential for renewal.

Full training and support will be provided and DRAs must be available to attend three half-day training sessions per year.

Applicants should be able to:

  • deal with sensitive issues confidentially
  • listen well
  • understand complex issues and provide impartial advice
  • develop an understanding of relevant University Policies

To be considered for the role, applicants must be able to attend an initial training session on the afternoon of 6 February 2020.

Depending on the volume of applications, applicants may be subject to shortlisting based on evidence of the skills required for the role. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend interview on the morning of 21st or 22nd January 2020 to discuss their application.
