Appointment: James Saville
James Saville been appointed as the University’s Director of Human Resources, following a rigorous and competitive external recruitment process.
James joined the University in January 2018 as Interim Director of Human Resources having spent the past five years as Director of People, Operations and Systems at the Department for International Development.
Key role
The Director of Human Resources is a key role, representing university-wide interests with a clear remit to plan, prioritise and implement strategies, policies and processes to best meet the University’s needs.
The Director is responsible for delivering and shaping the University’s people strategies and policies and providing visionary leadership to the Human Resources function during a time of significant transformational change.
I’m delighted to be appointed to the permanent post of Director of HR, and look forward very much to leading the new One HR team. I want us to be the best HR team in the university sector, recognised as a strategic partner in the successful delivery of the University’s mission.
Biography
James is a Director with multi-sector experience, having previously worked in the food manufacturing sector, financial services and as a self-employed consultant.
He is also a Charity Trustee Director and experienced executive coach and mentor.
James holds a BA (Hons) in History from the University of London, and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
