Margaret ‘Mags’ Jordan

Edinburgh University Students’ Association is sad to report that former King’s Buildings House receptionist, Margaret ‘Mags’ Jordan, passed away on 17 May 2017, aged 83.

Mags first came to work at the University of Edinburgh in 1967, and when the Students’ Association took over King’s Buildings House in 1994, a sprightly 60-year-old Mags chose to keep working there.

She retired from her role seven years ago, aged 76.

Mags is fondly remembered by the thousands of colleagues and students she worked with and assisted during her 43 years tenure at King’s Buildings.

Former colleague Matt Saunders comments “As the first person you saw on the way in to KB she filled the space with her personality. When you dropped in to King’s Buildings House you were always also going to visit Mags. She put people at ease with her quick chat or a little friendly teasing; even the shyest or most restrained of people soon found themselves fast friends with her.”
