Christmas closure 2016

The University is to close from 5pm on Friday 23 December 2016 until 9am on Wednesday 4 January 2017.

Generally, University buildings close for this period and staff are required to take leave, unless the Head of School / Support Department has made alternative arrangements.

Public holiday dates

As Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on a Sunday, the designated public holidays for all staff, other than those who are routinely required to work, will be:

• Monday 26 December 2016 (Boxing Day)
• Tuesday 27 December 2016
• Monday 2 January 2017 (New Year’s Day)
• Tuesday 3 January 2017

Due to the pattern of the designated public holidays, three closure days (28, 29 and 30 December 2016) will need to be taken from individual annual leave entitlement for 2016.

Staff who wish to take additional leave immediately before or after the closure period should make their request to their manager in the normal way.

Those functions providing a service during this period of closure will publish their opening times separately.

Staff who are required to work will be notified by their manager, in the normal way.
