Ever since my regular childhood visits I have held a deep admiration for Edinburgh.  I am excited to be joining another world-leading University that is so engrained in the heart of one of the world's great cosmopolitan capital cities.

I look forward to learning from the University's key supporters in Scotland, across the UK and the world in the coming months and years and to working with colleagues across campus to build on the many excellent programmes which are already in place.  Edinburgh has benefited from a powerful centuries-long tradition of philanthropic support, which can now be pivotal in delivering the University's global research, educational and cultural agenda to make a difference in the world.
