Voucher rewards: update

To date, nearly 300 voucher rewards have been awarded to employees through the University’s Voucher Reward Scheme.

Launched in February as an addition to the revised Contribution Reward Policy, the Scheme is being trialled until July 2014.

Its primary aim is to enable managers to quickly reward staff on grades UE01 to UE05, and equivalent grades, for an exceptional act or effort that goes beyond the normal expectations of their grade. However, all employees on grades UE01 to UE09 and all other non-professorial grades are eligible for consideration under the scheme.

Positive feedback

Feedback from managers and voucher recipients has been positive, with managers noting that it was “very useful to be able to reward staff quickly and easily” and that “employees were delighted to be thanked in this way”.

Voucher reward recipients fed back that it was convenient to be given a choice of voucher type and highlighted that they appreciated their efforts being recognised via the scheme.

Staff should note that the Voucher Reward Scheme does not replace the opportunity for an employee to be considered for an award under the Contribution Reward Policy. It is an additional mechanism to reward employees.

Further information, including examples of reasons for nominations that reflect the purpose of the Voucher Reward Scheme well, can be found on the Contribution Reward pages of the HR website.
