Transport loans available

Staff who travel to work by bus or train are reminded they can take out a University transport loan to cover a season ticket.

The interest-free loan can be repaid in 10 monthly instalments, which are deducted from the staff member’s salary.

Loans can be provided if the employee’s chosen transport provider does not offer its own interest-free scheme for the purchase of annual season tickets.

Avoid the fare increase

In January 2014 peak-time rail fares in Scotland will rise due to a planned Retail Price Index (RPI) increase of 3.1 per cent.

Staff wishing to avoid the fare increase should arrange payment of their annual season ticket before the end of December 2013.
