The University has a long-standing reputation for the excellent quality of our first aid training, dating back to the early 1980s.

Responsibilities

Mr Nimmo, who works in the University’s Health & Safety Department, is responsible for all first aid at work training and emergency first aid training throughout the University community.

There are 501 trained first aiders and 127 emergency first aiders throughout the University.

Mr Nimmo oversees the management of training for all these individuals, ensuring their qualifications are kept up to date.

Recognition

The Scottish First Aid Awards, in association with GlaxoSmithKline, have been created to champion first aid in Scotland and recognise the individuals and businesses that are leading the way in its provision.

The awards aim to raise awareness that first aid can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved - in the workplace, at school or in the community.

We are delighted that our contribution to first aid as an organisation, together with John's contribution as an outstanding individual practitioner, supported by key colleagues in the Health and Safety Department, have been recognised by this award.
