In the workplace, in order to comply with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, employers must ensure that there is adequate first aid cover in all work areas.
The University of Edinburgh has been approved by the Health and Safety Executive to deliver training in First Aid at Work since 1991. This training is provided free of charge to University staff in order to ensure there is adequate first aid cover across the University.

All First Aid training is also available to those out with the University on a fee paying basis.
Most courses are run in the Health and Safety Training and Audit Unit's excellent training facilities in Charles Stewart House on Chambers Street.
A 3 day course which provides detailed training in theoretical and practical aspects of First Aid at work.
A 2 day course to update the First Aid at Work certificate when their certificate expires after three years.
This 3 and half hour course is aimed at staff who wish to refresh their skills and knowledge having previously attained the First Aid at Work qualification.
This one day course is aimed at staff who wish to attain a basic knowledge of first aid.
The Training and Audit Unit is also able to tailor courses to your particular work area, for example, Paediatric First Aid training for the University Nursery Staff.
