An informal drop-in session will be held on 8 April to give staff the chance to find out more about the role.
Policy review
These voluntary roles, previously known as Contact Officers, have been redeveloped following a review of the University’s Dignity and Respect Policy, which has also been revised and updated.
The review identified the need to increase numbers of Dignity and Respect Advisers to 10 across the University.

Role description
Dignity and Respect Advisers offer impartial and confidential guidance and support to colleagues who may have been subjected to behaviour in breach of the Dignity and Respect Policy, such as bullying, harassment or discrimination.
Staff taking on this role will not be expected to investigate complaints or provide advice on resolution. Instead, Advisers listen to employee concerns and offer information about the relevant procedures or sources of support.
Full training and ongoing support will be provided for all Dignity and Respect Advisers.
Qualities and skills
Applicants for the role should be able to:
- listen well
- understand complex issues and provide tailored advice
- maintain appropriate and confidential records
- identify any conflicts of interest.
A full description of the role can be found in the Dignity and Respect Policy.
The role is voluntary and will be taken on in addition to usual duties so applicants need to have the full support of their line manager.
Get involved
Anyone interested in applying should contact David Rigby in the first instance, and confirm their attendance at the drop-in session.
Following the workshop, candidates should submit a formal application to David Rigby by 5pm on Friday 26 April. Applicants should outline on no more than two sheets of A4 why they are suitable for the role.
