Staff support service launches

The University has launched a new service to provide career transition support for staff who are facing redundancy or considering taking voluntary severance.

The Careers Service currently provides career transition support for research-only staff and will continue to do so.

The new service, provided by newfuture.me, is available to all other staff.

Guidance

The service will offer:

  • workshops on topics including job searching, interview skills and CV development
  • one-to-one career coaching sessions with employees
  • support for those involved in managing redundancy situations.

Redundancy Avoidance Policy

The University has a robust Redundancy Avoidance Policy, which outlines the steps that are taken to minimise or avoid the need for redundancies.

However, there are occasions where redundancy cannot be avoided.

Similarly, a number of staff accept voluntary severance, a measure, which can in itself reduce the number of redundancies across the University.

Where redundancy or voluntary severance situations arise, local HR Advisors will ensure that all those involved are aware of, and have the opportunity to make use of, the support available to them, either through newfuture.me, or the Careers Service.
