Staff development: update
The University’s programmes in staff development and in leadership and management development are now available for booking.
Both programmes offer a range of courses to help develop and enhance skills and expertise for roles in the University.
Leadership skills
The Leadership and Management Development Programme provides workshops for staff with leadership and management responsibilities, generally at grades 8-10.
The workshops are designed to develop specific skills in leading, managing and influencing others.

Short courses
The Staff Development programme offers a mix of full-day and short courses for all staff.
Topics covered include:
- assertiveness
- communication
- customer service
- time management
- performance and development review/appraisal
- legal aspects of recruitment and selection
- management/supervisory skills
- introduction to University activities.

The Learning Connections Brown Bag (lunchtime) Sessions will also return in October.
Dates and session topic information will be available on MyEd Events booking from 1 October.
A set of middle manager development courses run across Edinburgh universities will be advertised on MyEd shortly.
