Queen's Diamond Jubilee
The UK and Scottish governments have declared an additional public holiday on Tuesday 5 June 2012.
The extra holiday has been given to mark the celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Holiday observed
While public holidays are not statutory or contractual entitlements for University employees, the University has agreed to observe the day as a public holiday on this occasion.
It will therefore close for the day, with the exception of some essential services, including the Main Library and as many other libraries as possible.
No exams are scheduled for this date.
Time off granted
Managers of those areas remaining open on 5 June will inform staff of the relevant working arrangements.
Staff required to work will be granted time off in lieu and in some cases overtime pay will be payable, in line with the relevant conditions of service.
Employees who do not normally work on a Tuesday will be able to take pro rata time off in lieu.
