The workshops take place at science museums and schools in Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool and will introduce attendees to issues related to the brain such as memory, attention, emotion and language.

Competition winner

The tour is funded by an award won by Joanna in the UK-wide competition ‘I’m a Scientist Get Me Out of Here’.

The contest encourages UK scientists to interact with students online by posting responses to questions asked about their field.

Following popular reality TV formats, students are asked to vote for their favourite scientists.

The winners in each subject area are given a Wellcome Trust grant, worth £500, to contribute to a science communication project.

Neuroscience research

Joanna is a member of the Human Cognitive Neuroscience Research Group, based within Psychology.

The group is made up of academics with core interests in memory, attention, neuropsychology and motor control.
