Important note regarding the year abroad N.B. The third year is spent abroad –– a minimum of 30 weeks abroad over the year in total, and no fewer than 8 weeks for each language where two languages are being studied on a joint honours programme. Students may, of course, spend longer in the country of their target language, if they choose to do so.
Year 4

Assessment for your degree, at the end of year 4, is on the basis of 12 Units of Assessment (UoA), each of which corresponds to 20 credits out of the 240 that compose the two Honours years (years 3 and 4). To find out what those Units of Assessment are, it is essential that you consult the DRPS.

In DELC, for each language, Language Paper 1 constitutes two UoAs; the Oral is one UoA; and each “option” is one UoA. Depending on your curriculum and course choices, you may also do a Dissertation (two UoAs), Year Abroad Essays or Long Essays (one UoA each), and / or Language Paper 2 (one UoA).
