Local development support
Holders of a Principal’s Career Development PhD Scholarship will participate in additional professional development activities tailored to a specific career area (e.g. teaching, public engagement, entrepreneurship).
This activity will mostly take place and be coordinated locally (e.g. in Schools or Centres).
Central University support for scholarship scheme holders
We - along with Edinburgh Beltane Beacon for Public Engagement - have identified a range of additional centrally organised training and support that can be accessed by award holders if required. This complements and supplements local activities.
Orientation and enhanced development workshops (including applications for individual Higher Education Academy accreditation), tutoring handbook and online resources for tutors and demonstrators.
IAD support for tutors and demonstrators
The University offers support for public engagement with research via the IAD Public Engagement team, college and school based professionals as well as through membership of the Beltane Public Engagement Network. Support includes:
- access to innovative training
- details of the latest opportunities to engage
- advice on finding and applying for funding for public engagement activities
The University Edinburgh Inovations department supports students to start up their own business.
