University competition winner
The winner of the 2017 competition was Euan Doidge from the School of Chemistry with his presentation ‘WEEE are Golden: metal recovery by solvent extraction.'
Euan went on to represent the University in the UK and Universitas 21 competitions. Congratulations to Euan for winning the Highly Commended award in the Universitas 21 3 Minute Thesis Competition in October 2017 with his presentation ‘WEEE are Golden: metal recovery by solvent extraction’. He also won the People’s Choice prize at the UK final of the 3 Minute Thesis Competition in September 2017. Euan competed against 58 semi-finalists from UK Universities and six finalists to win an invitation to speak at the Royal Institution in the spring of 2018 arranged by Speakezee.
The runner up was Issy MacGregor from the MRC Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, with her presentation ‘Meiotic Recombination: The Great Genetic Bake Off’
Euan Doidge from the School of Chemistry also won the people’s choice prize with his presentation ‘WEEE are Golden: metal recovery by solvent extraction’
