Academic Search Complete

Description: The Academic Search Complete multi-disciplinary database provides full text for more than 8,500 journals, including full text for more than  7,300 peer-reviewed titles. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 12,500 journals and a total of more than 13,200 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,400 journals.

Arab-Israeli Relations, 1917-1970: The Middle East Online, Series 1

Description: The database offers a wide range of primary source materials (including letters, minutes, reports and maps) at the National Archives, London, from the Foreign Office, Colonial Office, War Office and Cabinet Papers from the 1917 Balfour Declaration through to the Black September war of 1970-1, documenting the context of the Arab-Israeli conflict as well as British diplomacy towards Israel and the Arab States.

Description: Part of Web of Science Core Collection. ATLA Religion Database with ATLA Serials

BLDS (British Library for Development Studies)

Access information: Free access on and off-campus from BLDS.
Description: Depository library at The Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, for publications from international organisations (including the UN system and World Bank) with a strong collection from developing countries.
Coverage: Contains over 150,000 records of documents on economic and social development including serial titles held and monographs acquired since 1987 Journal articles selectively indexed since 1990.

Christian-Muslim Relations, a Bibliographical History Online is a general history of relations between the two faiths as this is represented in works written by Christians and Muslims about the other and against the other.  

Vol.1 covers the period from 600 to 1500, when encounters took place through the extended Mediterranean basin and are recorded in Syriac, Arabic, Greek, Latin and other languages.  

Vol.2 covers all parts of the world in the period 1500-1914.


CIAO - Columbia International Affairs Online Columbia

Description: A source for theory and research in international affairs containing a wide range of scholarship on that includes working papers from university conferences. Each section of CIAO is regularly updated with new material.

Dead Sea Scrolls Electronic Library Biblical Texts

Presents a complete Hebrew transcription and English translation of the Biblical texts, together with high-resolution images (scalable). Access is available for all biblical fragments, including photos of the fragments, texts derived from the fragments in Masoretic order (bible books), English translation from the texts on the fragments and full Hebrew Scripture.


Early Western Korans Online

Description: This remarkable collection demonstrates the impact of the holy book of Islam in Europe. Long before printing with movable type became common practice in the Islamic world, Korans had been printed in Arabic type in several European cities. The collection includes Korans and Koran translations, printed between 1537 and 1857, and is of interest to book historians, theologians, philologists, and scholars of Islamic Studies alike.

Description: 2005, second edition covers comprehensively the fundamental linguistic disciplines, with their applications to the study of language and other related disciplines. The online version supplements the written text with additional illustrative material, samples of spoken language or signed langague and videos of the use of language in context.

Description: A comprehensive archive of the European literature on all aspects of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies.
Coverage: From 1906 to current. Over 3,000 journals are monitored for inclusion in the database, together with conference proceedings, monographs, multi-authored works and book reviews.  Journals and books are indexed down to the article and chapter level.

Description: Full-text journal archive service providing access to complete back runs of all the scholarly journals currently available in JSTOR. Recent volumes are excluded, usually the last 3-5 years, but each year a further year is added to the archive.

Description: This is an Arabic e-book collection containing approximately 5,000 titles from nearly 1,000 important Arab thinkers, philosophers, historians, politicians, and theologians in the Arab world. Topics cover feminism, modern medicine, political reforms, including the Orabi Revolution, education, arts, religion, and more. The collection includes works by the Four Imams of the Sunni Sect, the Al Azhar Modern Sheikhs; various authors of the Modern Arab Enlightenment, and rare works by the former Egyptian royal family. The database search platform is in English, with printable and downloadable features.

Description: Qurʾānic Studies Online consists of three important reference works on the Qur’ān.
