Associate Investigator Dr Richard Weller working at the CIR has identified a mechanism by which sunlight mobilises nitric oxide from stores in the skin, with beneficial effects on blood pressure and metabolic syndrome. This has helped spur a current re-assessment as to the benefits - and not just risks - of sunlight exposure for the general population.
