Edinburgh was my favourite city with a very rich history which was ideal for studying the subject - I like looking to the past to help me understand current problems. And the reputation of the university and the welcoming atmosphere displayed at the Open Day swung it.

During my time at the University of Edinburgh I loved my time on the History Society committee, particularly organising and leading the trip to Krakow, Poland in 2015! I also enjoyed writing my history dissertation about MI5 with the invaluable guidance of my supervisor Malcolm Craig.

My history degree improved my research skills and improved my ability to articulate my ideas. This has helped me research pedagogical approaches for my essays for the PGDE. I didn't really have a career in mind while I was study, but that was also part of the reason I chose history - it left open so many doors.
