Emotions, Identity and the Self

For the Autumn 2022 semester, LAMPS requests that submissions explore the theme of Emotions, Identity and the Self. Submissions can explore any idea relating to the theme, whether literal or metaphorical. Possible paper topics include, but are certainly not limited to:

  • History of Emotions
  • Individual or group identities
  • Philosophical and theological ideas of emotions and the self
  • The formation and expression of identity through texts, culture and art.
  • Relationships and interactions between individuals and groups
  • Letters and personal writing
  • Depictions of the individual

Presentations should be 20 minutes in length and are accompanied by 10 to 15 minutes of discussion and questions. If you are interested in applying, please send a 250-word abstract along with your details and a brief introductory statement about yourself to lampsedinburgh@gmail.com by Monday August 22nd 2022.
