Southeast Asia and Australasia

Key strategic partners

Find out about recent collaborative activity undertaken with our key strategic partners across Southeast Asia and Australasia.

The University of Sydney is ranked in the top 50 universities worldwide and, like Edinburgh, has ambitious goals to work with complementary universities to improve the staff and student experience.

INCiTE Summer School

Edinburgh and Sydney have collaborated (along with other partners) since 2019 on the INCiTE Summer School. This innovative 2-week summer programme in East and Southeast Asia puts students into multicultural teams to learn about intercultural competence, design thinking, and entrepreneurship, all while building a business model to solve a local challenge. The 2024 programme will be held in Da Nang, Vietnam, and past iterations of the summer school have taken place in Suzhou, China and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Research collaboration resources

Edinburgh and Sydney have agreed to match-fund a £180,000 collaboration fund to support five new research projects.

Each project will have to demonstrate tangible outcomes, such as the publication of new papers, application for major research grants, and hosting symposia or conferences.

The academic collaborations with Sydney have primarily focused on medicine and public health; this fund promotes working with colleagues in CAHSS and SCE.

Applications for this seed fund are now closed.
