Donate through your pay
You can support your favourite University of Edinburgh cause through your pay.
Do you want to help find a cure for Motor Neuron Disease? Is climate change worrying you and do you want to help stop it? Has dementia impacted your family life or life of a loved one? Do you want to help ensure pets of the homeless and vulnerable are checked and treated regularly, at no cost to their owners? Do you believe money should not get in the way of a person’s chance to study at the University of Edinburgh?
The University of Edinburgh is at the forefront of life changing and lifesaving medical research. We are committed to helping the local community and passionate about giving students the opportunity to study here, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Wherever your passions lie – in healthcare, education, environment, animal welfare – you can help change lives by donating through your pay to the University of Edinburgh.
How to donate to through your pay
If your employer offers Payroll Giving, you can give to any of these areas, and more, at the University of Edinburgh through your pay.
Search for your employer on the Payroll Giving Portal and complete the online donation form, typing ‘University of Edinburgh’ as the charity. The Development and Alumni team will contact you to discuss your chosen area within the University that you would like to support.
How Payroll Giving works
You can give to any registered UK charity through your pay. Payroll Giving is a simple, tax-efficient way of donating to the cause you care about most.
In fact, because you receive tax relief immediately on your donation, the cost to you is less but your charity receives the same amount you originally decided to give.
For example, if you set up a donation of £5 a month through your pay, it will only be £4 a month that is deducted from your pay (£3 a month if you are a higher rate tax payer) but the charity will always receive £5 a month.
|Cost to you as a 19% tax payer||£4.05||£6.08||£8.10|
|Cost to you as a 20% tax payer||£4.00||£6.00||£8.00|
|Cost to you as a 40% tax payer||£3.00||£4.50||£6.00|
|Cost to you as a 41% tax payer||£2.95||£4.43||£5.90|
