About Us

The Estates Business Services Team provides an integrated professional support service across the Estates Department.  The team is led by the Director of Business Services who also has responsibility for working with Procurement and Audit colleagues within the University to ensure that the Estates Department operates effectively and with integrity.  The Director of Business Services works closely with the Head of Estates Finance in relation to the business planning and monitoring processes across the department.  Specifically the Business Services Team are responsible for:

Estates Governance and Policy

This includes ensuring that there is a clear transparent decision making process in relation to how the Estates Department operates and ensuring that this is in line with the overarching governance arrangements for the University. Coupled with this the Business Services Team act as the custodians of Estates policies, again ensuring that these are defined and reviewed in line with University and legislative requirements. The team also handles Freedom of Information requests and manages complaints to the Department.

Business Support

Business Services provides a variety of support functions across the department including support for the Estates Management Group. The Business Services Team provide dedicated administration support to each of the Estates teams and provide a welcoming and efficient reception service.

Records Management

Developing and monitoring systems and processes that ensure all Estates records are managed in line with our legislative requirements. This includes the rollout of our electronic document management solution and ensuring that the Estates department meets the requirements under the new General Data Protection Regulations.

Disability and Equalities

Ensuring the department meets our legislative requirements under the Equalities Act 2010. This includes providing advice and guidance in relation to the development and operation of the Estate, ensuring that the University is accessible and provides a welcoming environment for everyone.
