Career opportunities
Due to the expansion of funded childcare hours, early years is a growing sector in Scotland. Through this programme, you will build on and gain the skills to become a leader in this exciting, expanding field.
Graduates can register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as lead professionals or managers in early learning and childcare. This opens a range of options, such as applying for a promotion at your current workplace or training as a social or health promotion worker.
You can also choose to study at masters level; for example, on the MSc Education (Early Childhood Practice and Froebel). Some of our graduates also go on to do the PGDE Primary Education or MSc Transformative Learning and Teaching.
"... The good things about the programme are learning in more detail about things I already was aware of and understood and often used in my everyday work, building upon my own knowledge base and accessing reading material, listening to people who have researched both at home and abroad, and putting theory, practice, policy and law into a contemporary context."

The University’s Careers Service supports all current students (and graduates for up to 2 years) to develop their potential and achieve satisfying and rewarding futures. We do this through individual appointments, group sessions and wider campus-based activity, alongside online services and resources. We also deliver a diverse programme of face-to-face and online events throughout the academic year.
