Physical Culture Research in Education (PCRE)

We are a group of researchers from across Moray House School of Education and Sport and beyond who research physical culture in the context of education: schools, curricula, teacher learning and ITE. Our research aims to enrich practice and improve the experiences, learning and lives of young people and their teachers.

We are a group of around 15 researchers: academics, teaching fellows and postgraduate research students. Many of us have a background in teaching physical education. We also  include researchers from other subjects: primary school teachers, sports coaches, health researchers and those with an interest in the health and wellbeing of teachers and young people.

Our work spans across two research hubs within the University of Edinburgh:
