Moray House School of Education and Sport

Bespoke professional learning

We regularly host international groups at Moray House School of Education and Sport and also design and deliver bespoke professional learning opportunities for schools and Local Authorities across Scotland.

Examples of bespoke work in Scotland

Academic staff and established consultants have designed and led bespoke professional learning workshops on practitioner enquiry, timetabling, reading acquisition and development, and learning for sustainability. They have worked with Headteachers and staff within Local Authorities to tailor the offering to meet the needs of their staff.

Examples of bespoke professional learning visits for international groups

Each year, we work with a wide range of groups from abroad. We are able to host visits of international groups at Moray House School of Education and Sport that range from a half-day session to a two-week programme of academic workshops sharing research expertise as well as facilitated educational visits to nurseries, primary and secondary schools, university departments, and other educational institutions. For example, we have hosted groups of Headteachers and groups of individuals working for local government.

Groups have visited from countries such as the US, Netherlands, Sweden, China, Georgia. In some cases, there is a possibility of academic members of staff travelling internationally to lead professional learning courses.

Feedback from previous participants

Through theoretical study and school visits, we have fully understood the educational theories and values of Scotland. Combining the theoretical knowledge and research I learnt at the University of Edinburgh to the reality of my school, I will explore the way that suits the school for further enhancement and development.

Headteacher and Professional Learning Participant, 2018

I learnt to think about education from an international perspective and gained knowledge of advanced education theory. I hope to have the opportunity to study again in future at the University of Edinburgh.
