EDP Summer School 2022

The 2022 Summer School focused on a multidisciplinary approach to the brain health and dementia.

The Edinburgh Dementia Prevention Summer School was held at the end of September 2022 and brought together clinicians, brain health researchers, students and expert speakers from 15 different organisations across the UK.

The aim of the Summer School was to introduce students to the brain health and dementia prevention from a multidisciplinary perspective, considering both clinical and research applications. It was also an important opportunity to provide in person networking opportunities and develop relationships within this growing community in the UK.

We held the Summer School over four days in the incredible John McIntyre Centre, with wonderful views of Arthurs Seat to welcome our attendees and speakers who were joining us from across the UK.

Topics for the Summer School included the biological basis of neurodegenerative diseases, the role of diet, head injury and cardiovascular disease as modifiable risk factors and exploration of the Brain Health Clinic service model launched by Brain Health Scotland. Each day ended with activities to apply the learning to attendees real-world settings.

Feedback from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with the modifiable risk factors a clear hot topic for all attendees.

If you are interested in being involved as either a speaker or attendee for either of these events we would love to hear from you- please contact Sarah.Gregory@ed.ac.uk
