Anatomy Nights: Matters of the Heart

A collaboration between Anatomy@Edinburgh and the ASCUS lab at Summerhall lent for an alternative night out on Valentines Day this year.

Our anatomist Sameer Dhumale gave a talk on the historical perspectives of the heart and how these perspectives influenced language, followed by the anatomy of the heart and a live dissection of an animal heart. Attendees also enjoyed activites involving microscopy of mouse heart tissue and ultrasound imaging of their own heart! This event was supported by the Anatomical Society and was well attended with all proceeds going towards the British Heart Foundation.
