Course offers unique insight into film fest

A short course that gives students the opportunity to attend film premieres and industry events will take place this June.

The Insight into the Edinburgh International Film Festival course - which is run in partnership with the EIFF - encourages participants to analyse films and discover the range and depth of the festival’s programming.

The course runs over ten days from Wednesday 15 June until Friday 24 June. No previous knowledge of film studies is required.

Eclectic screenings and events

Further events featured in the varied course include the Opening Night Gala, press screenings, lectures and discussion-based tutorials.

Films are carefully selected from the EIFF programme by the course tutors to represent a variety of genres and countries.

It is a genuine festival experience for everyone on the course as tutors discover the films at the same time as the students. It’s about discovery, appraising films against familiar trends and discovering original work that breaks new ground. The reward is in the sharing of experience, having open discussions where the traditional tutor/student divide does not apply as much as in the classroom.
