ECA animators continue awards success
Edinburgh College of Art students have added to a successful week of awards by winning more film prizes, this time at Bristol’s Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival.
Anna Ginsburg’s Living with Depression won the ‘DepicT! ’12 British Special Mention Award’, while Ainslie Henderson’s stop-frame animation, I Am Tom Moody, won the ‘Best of British Jury Award Animation’, a prize that is supported by the British Council.
Ainslie has now won a string of awards with I Am Tom Moody. Last week he won the ‘Graduation film’ prize at the KROK International Animated Film Festival, as well as the ‘Walt Disney GRAND PRIZE for Best Student Animation’ and the ‘Ottowa Media Jury Award’ at the Ottawa International Animated Film Festival.
Jared Taylor, Programme Director of animation at ECA, said: “These last few days have been quite remarkable for Ainslie, and for ECA. For one film to win four awards in as many days is a fantastic achievement.”
“Encounters is one of the longer-running and better-attended festivals in the UK and deals with both live action and animation. Because of its proximity to Aardman their films and staff usually have a big part to play in the proceedings, so stop-frame animation that is shown here is getting some of the most critical attention that it can.”
