English language requirements
You must provide evidence that your written and spoken English is at a level that will enable you to succeed in your studies.
SQA and GCSE
Unless a higher level is specified in the stated requirements for a programme, a pass is required in English at SQA Standard Grade 3 or better.
We also accept Grade A at Intermediate 1 or Grade C at Intermediate 2, or GCSE Grade C or better.
If English is not your first language you must have one of the accepted qualifications given below as evidence of your spoken and written English level.
Accepted qualifications
We accept a range of qualifications, however our requirements vary depending on the degree you are applying for.
We may also accept the English qualification you have taken as part of your studies at high school.

Tests & certificates
- Your English language certificate must be no more than two years old at the beginning of your degree course.
- The following tables show the English language qualifications we accept.
- If you have taken or plan to take an English language test that does not appear on our list, please contact the relevant College Admissions Office to check if we will accept it.
