Applying via UCAS
All applicants for full-time study on any of our undergraduate degree programmes must apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).
The application process is the same for international and UK applicants.
The UCAS system manages applications for undergraduate (first degree) programmes at UK universities and colleges.
The UCAS system allows you to :
- access up-to-date information about courses, institutions and criteria for selection through the Entry Profiles available on the UCAS website
- apply for up to five different degree programmes or universities in one application
- apply online via UCAS Apply
- Check the progress of your application through the decision-making process via UCAS Track
How to apply
You can apply online with UCAS Apply.
Your school or college will normally have access to UCAS Apply and will be able to guide you through the process.
If you are applying as a mature student or from overseas, UCAS can advise on the application process.

Applying for Medicine or Veterinary Medicine
If you are applying for Medicine or Veterinary Medicine, only four of the five choices on the UCAS application can be used for these subjects. We encourage you to use the remaining fifth choice for an alternative programme.
This does not prejudice your application in terms of commitment to study Medicine or Veterinary Medicine.
Applying for part-time study
Please note that if you are applying for part-time study, you should apply directly to the University, not via UCAS.
Application packs are available from the College of Humanities and Social Science Undergraduate Admissions Office.
Invisibility
The UCAS system operates a principal of invisibility. This means that we cannot see details of what other programmes you have applied to at other institutions until after all institutions have made their decisions.
We make our decisions without reference to or knowledge of your other choices.
