University Insight Days
Campus experience days or sessions offered to schools from across the UK who fulfil various Widening Participation criteria.
University open days are frequently cited as being vital to help potential applicants decide what and where they would like to study, but the financial cost of attending them and uncertainty about what to expect can be off-putting for applicants from Widening Participation backgrounds. Some schools will therefore arrange group trips to universities to help mitigate these issues. Where a school fulfils various Widening Participation criteria, the WP team will work with colleagues across the university to provide a bespoke, informative and inspiring visit, which gives the pupils an insight into what university life is like, including studying and social activities.
The trip is usually tailored to the school’s interests but can include academic taster sessions, university life, applications and admissions advice, and a campus tour with student ambassadors. The WP Team cover the cost of the on-campus sessions, but schools must fund the rest of the trip.
Schools from across the UK who meet various Widening Participation criteria such as low progression to higher education or a high proportion of pupils who live in areas defined as deprived. The WP team welcomes any requests for tailored campus visits.
