Shuttle bus
The University provides a free shuttle bus service for staff and students to travel between the Central Area and the King's Buildings.
IMPORTANT: Timetable alteration and change of bus stop location
From Monday 14th January 2013 the Central Area shuttle bus stop is changing location. All services to King’s Buildings will depart from the bus stop next to Bristo Square and the Potterrow Student Centre (bus stop number 36238547). This bus stop is on the south side of Lothian Street, opposite Negociants and Assembly.
Services from this bus stop will depart 2 minutes earlier. Refer to the timetable below
Timetable 2012-13
The shuttle bus operates every day, including Saturdays and Sundays, during Semester 1 and 2. It does NOT run during the Winter, Spring or Summer vacations.
The bus picks up and drops off in Central Area, Summerhall and King's Buildings.
From Monday 14th January 2013 the shuttle bus will depart 2 minutes earlier from the Central Area from the bus stop next to Bristo Square and the Potterrow Student Centre (bus stop number 36238547). This bus stop is on the south side of Lothian Street, opposite Negociants and Assembly.
There is no guarantee that the bus will be able to accommodate all waiting passengers. At busy times the bus can depart Central Area full and will not be able to pick up at Summerhall. Please consider all options for travelling to the King's Buildings.

Pick up points
- Central Area: The bus stop next to Bristo Square and the Potterrow Student Centre (bus stop number 36238547). This bus stop is on the south side of Lothian Street, opposite Negociants and Assembly bars.
- Summerhall (formerly the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School): from the bus stop next to the steps at the front entrance, located next the junction of Summerhall Crescent/Hope Street/Melville Drive.
- King's Buildings: from the bus stop at the roundabout next to the Roger Land Building.
Drop off points
- Central Area: The bus stop on Potterrow, outside the Informatics Forum.
- Summerhall: The first bus stop beyond the junction of Summerhall Crescent/Hope Street/Melville Drive.
- King's Buildings: the roundabout at the Roger Land Building.
Priority permits
The first 10 seats of the shuttle bus must be left free for priority permit holders until departure.
Priority permits are issued to staff and students required to make essential business/study related journeys between University sites to a deadline.
A Priority Permit application form should be completed and authorised by your Personal Tutor. The form can be downloaded from the following webpage (see "Related links").
