Sarah is one of the world’s foremost hockey umpires having presided over medal matches at the very highest level, from the most prestigious club tournaments to the international elite, including European Championships, World Cups and Commonwealth and Olympic Games.

She has umpired at almost every level of her sport, including 3 x European Championship Finals, Hockey World Cup, Indoor World Cup Final, 2 x Junior World Cups, Champions Trophy Final, 5 x European Hockey League Finals, FIH Pro League Final, and World League Final, amongst many other domestic and international honours.

Sarah made her Commonwealth Games debut at Glasgow 2014, where she umpired both the semi-final and the bronze medal matches. She has also umpired at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games where again she took charge of the bronze medal match, only missing out on umpiring the final due to Team GB’s appearance.

In her second Commonwealth Games, at Gold Coast 2018, Sarah umpired both the Semi-Final and the Final (New Zealand vs Australia), and later that year she was named as both the Scottish Hockey Official of the Year and FIH Female Umpire of the Year.

Sarah is respected and sought after worldwide for her hockey officiating. She has been awarded the sport’s ‘golden whistle’ to commemorate her 100th international cap, was amongst one of the first women to be appointed to the men’s European Hockey League and will preside over her second Olympic hockey tournament when she attends the 2021 Tokyo Games.
