We are using your personal data because you have consented to a third party (edX) sharing your data with us. When you enrol on a University of Edinburgh course on edX, you will be asked if you wish to opt in to receive communications from the University of Edinburgh.
If you choose to opt in, the Online Learning Marketing Team will be provided with your user ID, edX username, email address, full name, course ID, whether you opted in for email and date and time you set your preferences. We will use this data to send you relevant information about studying at the University of Edinburgh, as well as to let you know about further opportunities such as Open Days and virtual events relating to online degrees and online courses.
In the legitimate interest of monitoring the effectiveness of student recruitment activities, we may also use your data to track whether you engage in further activities with us or go on to make an application; this is for statistical purposes only.
The Online Learning Marketing Team will be able to communicate with you until you unsubscribe via the link in the emails we send you, or via your learner profile on edX.
This processing of your personal data will have no impact on the outcome of any current or future application to the University of Edinburgh.

You can unsubscribe from Dotdigital emails at any time via the link at the foot of the email you receive from us. Dotdigital is a third party service subcontracted by the University of Edinburgh but not operated by the University of Edinburgh.
