Undergraduate funding from Student Finance (Student Loans Company)
The Student Loans Company (SLC) pays your tuition fee loan directly to the University. You need to apply for tuition fee loans to Student Finance England, Wales or Northern Ireland for each year of your course.
How to apply for a tuition fee loan
Submit your application to Student Finance England, Wales or Northern Ireland
You can apply for a tuition fee loan for the upcoming academic year from February on (for example, you can apply in February 2023 for funding for the academic year 2023-24). You should apply for a loan by 25 June to ensure that the funding is in place for the start of your programme.
The University cannot apply for a tuition fee loan on your behalf.
SLC will confirm the loan to you and the University. You do not need to send the loan letter to the University.

You will need to complete this form once at the start of every academic year, or whenever the way you fund your studies changes.
You do not need to complete this form if you have done so previously in the current academic year. Only complete it again if the way you fund your studies has changed.

Where to find your financial information
You can see your student fees account transactions like student and sponsor fee invoices, credit notes, payments received including scheduled instalment amounts and dates when you log into MyEd and go to My finance.
Do you need help?
You might receive an invoice if:
-
the award of the tuition fee loan has not been confirmed by SLC
-
the amount of the loan is less than the fees due
If you believe you should have full funding then please contact SLC first to find out more information before contacting the University.
If your loan does not cover the full tuition fees, you can pay the difference in one payment or by instalment.
You should apply for funding as soon as possible. Check the Student Finance England, Wales or Northern Ireland website for application deadlines to ensure that your loan is in place for your programme start date.

If you have submitted a late application, you might have to fund your tuition fees in another way. If your fees are not paid you could risk your place on your programme.

You might be able to get a tuition fee loan if you repeat a year.
