Aid for Refugees

Details of an initiative in Edinburgh to deliver Aid to Ukranian refugeesin Moldova that some of our Chaplains have been involved in.

Rab who runs a small haulage business in Edinburgh is driving a 22-tonne lorry to Moldova on Mar 21st with aid for Ukrainian refugees. Rab has driven to Moldova before with the charity TEECH.

Moldova, which borders Ukraine, is the second poorest country in Europe and Rab commented that he cannot imagine what the Moldovians are sharing with refugees when they have so little anyway.

TEECH (the charity enabling the run) use a customs broker to make sure they have all the correct paperwork to get out there.

TEECH have been working with the same Charity based in Moldova for many years, who will coordinate the distribution of the goods through established Moldovan volunteers and where they already have a warehouse set up. The requested items list shared with us comes directly from people in Moldova and there are extra packers in Colchester (Teech Base)  to make sure only appropriate aid gets dispatched. You can read more about it on the TEECH website

298 boxes of aid were collected and £4020 raised. The truck left on the 21st  of March and will continue going as long as it will be necessary. Here's the link to the service: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-O26_B1Sz-4&list=PLhSZvkcz0b5_HPZjv8xq8TlS-mrdj7kvl&index=3
