Improved lung function

One hundred and thirty six patients aged 12 and over received monthly doses of either the therapy or a dummy treatment for one year: July 2015

One hundred and thirty six patients aged 12 and over received monthly doses of either the therapy or a dummy treatment for one year. Of that number, fifty-five were treated in Edinburgh. Patients who received the therapy had a significant, but modest, improvement in lung function compared with those receiving a placebo. The team says more research is needed to improve the effectiveness of the therapy before it will be suitable for clinical use.
