UNCOVER | Applied Evidence Synthesis

UNCOVER 2021 Conference Now Open for Registration

The conference will showcase the results of rapid reviews conducted for decision-makers in 2021, by students and staff working collaboratively as part of the Usher Network for COVID-19 Evidence Reviews. The conference includes keynote speeches from Professor Linda Bauld and Professor Colm Harmon, and a fascinating guest panel session reflecting on lessons learned from doing evidence synthesis during a pandemic.

We are delighted to announce registration is now open for the 2021 UNCOVER online conference.

Making a difference to real-world decision-making: hear how Usher Institute students and staff have contributed to the pandemic response in Scotland and beyond. Members of the Usher Network for COVID-19 Evidence Reviews (UNCOVER) share the highly relevant findings of, and their experience of working on, review topics from Long Covid, to Student Mental Health, to Severe Asthma and more, in response to ongoing questions from decision-makers about COVID-19 and its consequences.

This free online conference will be held over two afternoons, from 13:00-15:00 on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 October. The conference will feature keynote speech from Professor Linda Bauld (Usher Institute) and Professor Colm Harmon (Vice Principal Students), and an engaging Panel session on using public health evidence in a pandemic, featuring Professor Jeremy Grimshaw (COVID-END), Dr Nikita Burke (Evidence Synthesis Ireland) and Dr Garth Reid (Public Health Scotland).

Who is it for? The conference is open to anyone who has an interest in evidence-based responses to COVID-19, or in making connections between academic research and political or practical decision-making. In addition to exploring a range of highly topical issues, the conference is a chance to see UNCOVER's innovative student-staff working model in action. Staff, students, and external partners who might be interested in joining or collaborating with UNCOVER are especially welcome, and the conference is open to all, within and beyond the University.
