Governance
The University of Edinburgh is governed through a structured framework involving the University Court, which is the University's senior decision-making body; the Senatus Academicus, responsible for academic matters; and the General Council, which represents alumni. The Principal manages day-to-day operations and strategic direction, with delegated authority from Court.
The University Executive consists of senior management, including the Principal, and is primarily responsible for the operational management and strategic implementation of the University's goals.
Ways sustainability is embedded:
- The University Executive paper template includes a mandatory section: "Responding to the Climate Emergency & Sustainable Development Goals".
- Dave Gorman, Director for Social Responsibility and Sustainability, is a member of the Estates Committee, Investment Committee and EDI Committee.
