Storm Floris: severe weather warning

The arrival of Storm Floris brings warnings of high winds for Edinburgh and across Scotland, which are currently in place until 23:00 on Monday 4 August.

You may have already heard from your local management team about this, or discussed any changes needed to your working arrangements with your line manager. If you have travelled into work today, please bear in mind the warnings about potential travel disruption and speak to your manager about how this might affect you.

Please remember to refer to the University's Severe Weather Policy where this impacts your working arrangements, as this sets out what to do when the weather impacts travel or working activities. It includes:

  • A table of scenarios to help you understand what you should do if severe weather impacts your ability to work.
  • A checklist to help managers plan effectively in advance of and during severe weather.
  • What you should do if you are away on a work-related trip or experience travel disruption when returning home from a holiday.

You can view the policy on our HR webpages:

Please speak to your line manager if you have any questions or concerns.
