The forum was established in 2023 to support and inform the University’s research cultures activity. It acts as a critical friend by highlighting areas of challenge that may need to be addressed by the Research Strategy Group or other University management structures. It also provides input into activity that might impact on research cultures. You can find out more on the forum’s webpage:
Chairing responsibilities include:
- Setting the agenda and/or identifying contributors for six Research Cultures Forum meetings each year. This includes two formal meetings of the members of the forum, two drop-in sessions with forum members, and two meetings that are open to all members of the University of Edinburgh community to join.
- Representing the views of members of the Research Cultures Forum when providing feedback on relevant policies, action plans or activities.
- Acting as a critical friend to the Head of Research Cultures and the Vice-Principal Research & Innovation.
The role is estimated to require around 50 hours of work per annum. Previously this role has been undertaken collaboratively as a shared Chair role and the forum like to continue this approach.
