Background
Yuze is currently a PhD student in Clinical Psychology at the Contextual Mental Health Research Group, focusing on social support as a potential resilience factor in recovery from psychosis.
Raised in South China, Yuze began his journey in psychology in 2018 when he joined the psychology undergraduate program at the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience, University of Colorado Boulder in the United States. He completed his B.A. degree in psychology (summa cum laude) and a minor in philosophy from CU Boulder in May 2022. In August 2022, he moved to Edinburgh for postgraduate studies in clinical psychology at the School of Health in Social Science, The University of Edinburgh. He received an MSc in Mental Health in Children and Young People in November 2023 and recently completed an MSc by Research in Clinical Psychology in August 2024.
Inspired by his personal life and volunteering experiences in clinical settings, Yuze is particularly interested in resilience factors, such as social support, in helping people cope with distressing experiences, recover from mental health conditions, and foster better mental wellbeing as a whole.
Outside his academic life, Yuze enjoys reading books in broad psychology and philosophy fields, listening to music, cycling, and sometimes hiking. He also serves as the campus representative of the Association of Psychological Science Student Caucus (APSSC) at The University of Edinburgh.
