Thesis title: How do Teachers Agentively Grapple with the Demands of Intercultural Communicative Competence in Policy in EFL Classrooms in Chinese Primary Schools

Background

Yupei Wei (she/her) is a PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh. Her research interests are English as a foreign language (EFL) education, intercultural communication competence (ICC), teaching practice and teaching materials. The current research she is working on is investigating how teachers agentively grapple with the demands of ICC in policy in EFL classrooms in Chinese primary schools. She was an English tutor in China before starting her Ph.D.

Knowledge exchange

Attended a Summer School which was organised by the Europe Educational Research Association at the University of Belgrade in Serbia from the 12th to 14th of July 2023, and the topic is inclusive approaches to educational research, link: https://nauka.f.bg.ac.rs/eera2023/

Current project grants

Fieldwork for her current PhD research has been funded by Tweedie Research Fellowship, from March to August 2024. The fellowship has been issued by Issued by College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science at the University of Edinburgh.
