Peter Rowe, Principal's Career Development PhD Scholar

Thesis title: Faith in the Forest: Christianity, Conservation, and Relationships in Kenya

Qualifications

MSc in Environment and Development (with distinction) 2019

BA in Environmental Studies (with honours) 2015

Research summary

My primary research interests lie in the broad field of conservation and development in East Africa. Specifically, I'm interested in how religious communities engage in conservation practice.

Current research interests

My PhD work explores the ways in which everyday faith (specifically Christianity) shapes everyday conservation by specifically looking through the lens of relationships between NGO staff and conservation programme participants. Further, I am interested in how faith shapes things like expectations that come to be attached to conservation and development programmes, as well as decisions on whether (or not) to participate in such programmes.
