Background

Paul has been working with the MSc Clinical Management of Pain programme as a clinical tutor since 2012, and became a Lecturer and Deputy Programme Manager in 2022. He graduated from the programme in 2011. He gained a postgraduate certificate in university teaching in 2020 and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority. His background is as an osteopath, and still runs a multidisciplinary clinic, working alongside physiotherapists. Over the course of his career, he has found the study of pain to be a fascinating academic discipline and been aware of the evolution of traditional ‘bio-mechanical’ models of musculoskeletal pain as has become apparent that pain conditions are complex, multidimensional experiences that are unique to the individual.  Paul's research interests include patient education.
