Oluyinka graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria in 2010. She won the Commonwealth Scholarship to study a Masters in Animal Bioscience at the University of Edinburgh in 2012. With her interest in animal breeding, genetics and genomics to enhance food security in the tropics, she graduated with a PhD from the same University fully sponsored by the International strategic Fund of SRUC and researched on “Across-country dairy breeding strategies in sub-Saharan Africa. She joined the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health, University of Edinburgh in 2019 as a Research Fellow and Quantitative Geneticist to assist in the development of a dairy profit index for Jersey cattle in Rwanda. She hopes to encourage and influence less advantaged women to break academic barriers in science and follow their dreams.
