Nishmeet Singh

Thesis title: Understanding and Improving Food Environments, Diets and Nutrition

Background

Prior to joining the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Systems, Nishmeet worked as a Research Analyst at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). He has previously worked at the Energy Policy Institute at University of Chicago. His recent research has focused on measurement and collection of evidence on food insecurity during COVID-19 in South Asia, particularly India and Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka, Nishmeet has been involved in an impact evaluation of the World Food Programmes' (WFPs) interventions that aim to improve household income and diets of rural agriculture-dependent populations. Nishmeet has also published articles on the topics of child and maternal malnutrition and climate change adaptation in South Asia. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Masters in Economics from India. His PhD will focus on studying food environments in South Asia.
